The Minety Community Shop is supported by a small army of dedicated volunteers. This team are truly the heart of our community giving their time, energy and kindness to keep the shop open and running smoothly.
Our shop is more than just a place to buy goods, the village shop is a welcoming hub where neighbours connect, and community spirit thrives. Through teamwork and commitment, our volunteers help keep this vital local resource alive and flourishing for everyone.
Meet our Volunteers
Dawn has volunteered in the shop for nearly 5 years since moving to the village and regualry covers one session a week. Dawn says. “It is a great way to get to know people and is still my favourite bit about volunteering. I like being able to keep an eye out for our more vulnerable customers and to speak with people who are thinking of moving into the village”.
Sue – The shop was the first place my husband and I visited after we viewed the house that is now our home in Minety. We were seriously impressed with the wide range of things it stocked – and it kept us well supplied when we moved in with a limited store cupboard and gave us lots of local knowledge!! I now volunteer each week and enjoy meeting people. I get to catch up with friends, meet visitors and help in my community.
Karen – I have been a volunteer in the Minety Community Shop for over three years and thoroughly enjoy working there. Not only have I met new people, I also think it is an excellent asset to the community, offering a wide range of goods. It is a vital facility, particularly for those who are unable to venture further for their day-to-day items.
Janice – I have volunteered in Minety Community shop since it opened – with very limited stock and equipment – at the start of the 1st Covid lockdown ln 2020. I try to cover at least one shift per week, thoroughly enjoy them and believe that the shop is a real village asset. It’s a great way of getting to know people in the village. So many customers comment on how pleased they are to have a village shop – especially such a good one .
Meet our Managers
Our volunteers are supported by our Manager and Assistant Manager.
Catherine, our Shop Manager, was part of the original team that put the initial shop in place and has managed the shop since its official opening in September 2020. She knows every item on sale, all the local shoppers likes and dislikes and welcomes everyone with a smile.
Kirsty joined as Assistant Manager in February 2026. Originally from a small village in Wales, she feels at home serving the local community in a local shop. She brings a passion for community and enjoys working with the volunteers.
